Visitation Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that our residents receive the support and care they need from their essential caregivers, while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all.

Visitation Policy

We aim to facilitate visits between our residents and their essential caregivers. While maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all. Our policy is designed to ensure that both the resident and the caregiver are protected from harm.

Visitation Procedures:

To facilitate visits by Essential Caregiver visitors upon a request from a resident or friend/family member:

Resident Notification: The resident (or their representative) will read and sign a policy and procedures document, which represents their agreement to abide by the policies set forth in this document.
Essential Caregiver Training : The essential caregiver visitor must complete training on infection prevention and control, including the use of PPE, hand sanitation, and social distancing.

Visitor Log: Visitors, including essential caregivers, must sign in and out on a visitor log. Procedures

To facilitate visits by Essential Caregiver visitors upon a request from a resident or friend/family member:
Screening : We will thoroughly screen the visitor prior to entry to ensure their safety and well­ being.
Consents and Training : The essential caregiver visitor must obtain consent from the resident or their representative before visiting, and complete training on infection prevention and control procedures.
Personal Protective Equipment : Essential caregivers must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by our facility’s Infection Control Policies.

Visitor Log: Visitors, including essential caregivers, must sign in and out on a visitor log. Procedures

No more than one Essential Caregiver Visitor may be designated per resident. The policy need not prohibit Essential Caregiver Visitor visits if the specific resident to be visited is quarantined, tested positive, or showing symptoms of a communicable disease. Visits in these circumstances will likely require a higher level of PPE than standard surgical masks.


Visitation Policy Revisions

Any changes to this policy must be promptly communicated to affected residents and essential caregivers.
